    Works for Me Wednesday

My husband and I began taking Dave Ramsey's class, Financial Peace University, a couple weeks ago at our church. I have been a fan of Dave Ramsey's for a long while. I have read a few of his books and watch his TV program. Our church is offering the course for the 1st time and we decided to participate.

The class comes with a 13 week membership to the Total Money Makeover Community, message board. It is a great community, but with limited membership time, after which time you have to pay a fee to continue using the message boards. A couple years back I discovered a similar message board that is really helpful, even for those who haven't taken the class.
Living Like No One Else is a message board for those who want to learn about and use Dave Ramsey's classes. It is FREE to use!

Dave Ramsey is very big on the "Envelope System" of budgeting. Using physical envelopes is one great way of doing this. I found a couple of online resources that will help you manage your budget using the "envelope system".

The first resource is Mint.com. Mint.com allows you to import your bank info and credit card info, although this info is not necessary to use the site. Mint.com allows you to create a budget using different categories and will track your spending and help you stay within budget. The site will also send you email or text alerts if you are close going under an amount that can be set by the user. Mint.com also tracks your investments and other financial info if you set up your account to do so. The site can be very useful when Tax Time rolls around because it has already done a lot of calculations for you! The site has a message board for asking questions and getting help. Best of all it is FREE to use!

The second resource is  My Spending Plan. My Spending Plan is another FREE online budgeting tool. It is similar to Mint.com in many ways.

I believe that in a quest to become "debt free" it is so beneficial to seek out FREE resources to help you along the way! I hope these resources are helpful to many!
